I decided to create this blog after a friend of mine repeatedly advised me that I needed a creative outlet. Being a lawyer does not usually provide creative outlets (although I suppose that depends on what kind of law you practice) and after seven years was honestly making me feel stiff and stifled. So, after much hemming and hawing , I gathered my courage, had a few glasses of wine, and pressed the “publish” button. That simple act required more courage than one might think – all I could think of was my thoughts going out for all the world to see – although at that point I am quite sure my regular readership consisted of my mother. I envision the blog as a place to share my photographs (I am a very amateur photographer, but am trying to learn– photography classes being another outlet) and my thoughts on life and the world in general. We’ll see what it becomes. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy creating it.
The title for this blog was inspired by a poem from one of my favorite poets, William Butler Yeats.
“When You Are Old”
When you are old and grey and full of sleep
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
and loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
